'Starships' was produced by RedOne and begins with a guitar riff before going into a Euro dance-inspired club anthem.

Talking about the track on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Minaj said: "'Starships' is one of my absolute, absolute favourite records on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

"It just sounds like a Ryan Seacrest-type of record. And I'm so excited for you to give this song your blessing, Ryan, because I know people are gonna love it. It feels right. It just feels good. It makes people feel happy and that's all I want."

She added: "I want to start the year off with making people feel good. The [Grammy] performance was the performance, that was my clear craziness, and now it's time to make people dance and have fun, and that's all I want to do."

'Starships' is available to download now in the US and will be released in the UK in the coming weeks.

Minaj's second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded will be released in the UK on April 2 and the US on April 3.
