The music company confirmed that the increase in cost of Houston's album The Ultimate Collection from £4.99 to £7.99 ($7.85 to $12.50) was its fault, rather than the fault of Apple.
Houston's Greatest Hits album also jumped from £7.99 to £9.99 ($12.50 to $15.67).

In a statement, Sony said: "Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the UK iTunes store on Sunday. When discovered, the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologise for any offence caused."
According to the New York Times, the error was made by an employee in Britain and no official order was given by the company to up the price.
Houston is on course to dominate the UK and US singles and albums charts this weekend.
At least one album is expected to feature in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 on Wednesday, while 27 of the star's songs are on course to chart in the UK's Top 200 singles list on Sunday.
