Say what you will about the charts today, but the last 12 months have still seen Britain throw up some mightily impressive records.
Naturally, some of the very finest have been nominated for the 'Best Album' prize at this year's Brit Awards - from Adele's unstoppable 21 to PJ Harvey's Mercury Prize-winning Let England Shake.
