Franz Ferdinand are to take some time off from music, to recover from a hectic two years.
The band, who have been recording and touring non-stop since they brought out their first album in 2004, decided to take a break after the Leeds and Reading festivals.
Singer Alex Kapranos told NME: "The Carling Weekend felt like the summing-up of everything we've done over the last couple of years. We are going to have a little bit of a break. For me, taking a break means being able to write whenever I feel like it."
Guitarist Nick McCarthy added: "As a band, we will be away a while. It's going to be months before we even start rehearsing again."
