Chris Cornell covers Whitney Houston 'I Will Always Love You' - video

Chris Cornell paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston by covering her hit single 'I Will Always Love You' at a recent concert.

The Soundgarden frontman headlined a fundraising event for US President Barack Obama in San Francisco over the weekend, but strayed from his political message to honour Houston by playing one of her classic hits.

Cornell admitted he was slightly nervous to debut his version of 'I Will Always Love You', even cautioning the crowd: "I just learned this, so when I mess it up, forgive me."

Jennifer Hudson also performed a version of 'I Will Always Love You' at the Grammy Awards on February 12, just one day after the singer was found dead in her Beverly Hilton hotel room.

Dolly Parton - who wrote 'I Will Always Love You' - later praised Hudson's cover of the song by saying the new version made her cry.

Gospel star Yolanda Adams also paid tribute to Houston at the NAACP Image Awards by singing the religious standard.
