Joey Barton has branded last night's Brit Awards as a "giant pile of s**te".

The QPR footballer slammed Blur's performance and George Michael's appearance at the ceremony at London's O2 Arena, as well as ITV's "disgusting" decision to cut Adele off during an acceptance speech.

"What's happened to the #brits its really bad," he wrote on Twitter. "Cutting Adele off for Blur, who sound really bad by the way, was disgusting. F**k u britawards.

"George Michael being blitzed and chatting poo doesn't help either. On a positive note thought [host[ James Corden looked smart (sic)."

On Blur's extended performance, their first as a full band since 2009, Barton added: "Is this Blur or some p*ssed up English men on a Spanish karaoke machine? #oasis4life.

"You have to give it to ITV, somehow they manage to make even decent events, giant piles of s**te. It's genius really.......#howtoruintv...p*ssed me right off that."

Barton has become infamous for his Twitter outbursts in recent times, which have seen him describe the Only Way Is Essex cast as "freaks" and denounce Paris Hilton as a "f**king dullard".
