One Direction have thanked Capital FM for their win at last night's Brit Awards.

The X Factor boyband picked up the 'Best British Single' prize for their number one hit 'What Makes You Beautiful' but neglected to mention Global Radio's Capital FM whose listeners voted them as winners in the category. Member Harry Styles instead thanked Radio 1.

"One Direction forgot to thank the Capital Radio listeners last night when picking up their Brit Award for 'Best British Single'," read an official statement via their PR firm on Twitter.

"This was an oversight as the boys were caught up in the excitement of winning.

"The band would like take this opportunity to thank Capital Radio and all their listeners for their support and for voting for them."

It had been reported that Capital FM had bumped One Direction from its playlists and cancelled a planned appearance after the group thanked BBC Radio 1 from the Brits stage.
