The boy band said that they are excited about their upcoming tour of the country because their Aussie fans have been very supportive since they were formed on ITV's X Factor in 2010.
Zayn Malik told the Herald Sun: "We can't wait to come Down Under and meet everyone that has supported us," while Harry Styles added: "You guys have been amazing and have supported us since day one, so thank you."
One Direction are scheduled to arrive in Australia this April and will play gigs in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and New Zealand. They are also believed to be performing at the annual Logie Awards on April 15.
Fans on Twitter have been campaigning for the group to visit Australia since last year.
Styles caused controversy at the Brit Awards earlier this week when he thanked Radio One for an award voted for by listeners of rival station Capital FM. They later thanked the correct network, blaming the error on "an oversight" because they were "caught up in the excitement of winning".
