The rapper will release her first studio LP Broke With Expensive Taste in September and revealed that the main theme of the record is a girl trying to make her way in the world.
Banks told Nylon magazine of the album: "The theme is a young girl trying to find it."
Asked what "it" was, she continued: "Success! Herself! Her path! The young girl trying to make it! That girl who's at the end of her childhood trying to get a job and make some money, you know?
"She needs to get what she can get! She needs to go out there and show people she knows how to work for it."
Banks signed a record deal with Universal Music in January and is currently working on new material with Paul Epworth.
She will release her debut EP '212' in the UK on March 25. The digital bundle will also include 'Liquorice' and a number of new remixes.
