Green Day have described their new album as "voyeuristic".

The band, who are currently working on the follow-up to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown, claimed that the material is the first instance where they sing about "f**king".

In a teaser video posted on their YouTube page, Mike Dirnt says: "I'm just trying to make people feel more attached - as attached to this record as we feel."

Billie Joe Armstrong adds: "I think it's so personal and so voyeuristic. This is the first time we ever really sung about f**king."

Dirnt replies: "I know but it's daunting. You sit there and you can hold the record and look at it as a piece of art, where you can go, 'Come on in, even further'. The songs are going to f**king blow their minds."

Green Day's ninth studio album is expected to be released later this year.
