The X Factor finalists, who won a Brit Award last month for 'Best British Single', were announced as the 'winners' of the prize at the ceremony at London's Brixton O2 Academy.
Other nominees in that category were Beady Eye, Coldplay, Muse and Viva Brother.
The other negative prizes of the evening went to Justin Bieber, who turns 18 today.
The teen popstar was named 'Villain of the Year', ahead of a shortlist featuring David Cameron, Lady GaGa, Liam Gallagher and Nick Clegg.
Bieber's Christmas record Under The Mistletoe was named the 'Worst Album', ahead of other nominees Coldplay, Lady GaGa, One Direction and Viva Brother.
Despite the magazine recently naming Lady GaGa's Born This Way the most pretentious record of all time, her official Twitter feed was named 'Best Band Blog or Twitter'.
