Happy Mondays' Bez pulls out of reunion: 'Age has caught up with me'

By
Bez has revealed that he will not be part of the Happy Mondays reunion.

The 47-year-old, famed for his dance moves and maraca playing, said that he was too old to join the band on stage for their 11-date UK tour, launching in May.

"I'm not actually performing with the Mondays this time around," the BBC quotes Bez as saying.

"Unfortunately age has caught up with me. I'm an old man now. Sometimes you've got to hang your boots up gracefully."

Bez further explained that he was suffering from injuries caused by "big motorbike crashes and all that".

The Happy Mondays reformation was confirmed in late January following weeks of speculation.

Frontman Shaun Ryder said of the reunion: "Some of the lads haven't seen each other in over 10, 15 years. It's as if we've never been apart - so good to all be in the same room again.

"We can't wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous."
