The 'Oh My Goodness' singer propositioned the former X Factor judge via Twitter on Tuesday (March 6).
He wrote: "Haha sod it @CherylCole I'll ask for your number then #cantblameaguyfortrying #worthashot lol haha x"
Asked about his declaration of love on The Graham Norton Show, Murs confirmed that he is "100% single" and explained: "She tweeted me so I thought, 'Sod it'... Her Wi-Fi must be down or something as I haven't heard from her yet."
Murs went on to claim that he has remained single due to his fear that any partners will exploit his fame.
"I don't sleep with stunning women," he claimed. "Before I got famous no good looking girls would come near me.
"And now I get loads of gorgeous girls come up to me, which is incredible, but they only want one thing - to sell their story.
"I am not that kind of guy. I think they are after money rather than me."
Murs was also asked whether he would return to host The Xtra Factor, to which he replied: "Well, possibly. I don't know. I would love to do it.
"It's a matter of figuring out dates and schedule but I think I pretty much will be doing it. I hope so."
Murs will appear on tonight's edition of The Graham Norton Show, which airs at 10.35pm on BBC One.
