Eddie Vedder has announced that he will play his first ever live solo gigs in the UK this summer.

The Pearl Jam frontman will perform at two shows in the UK in July as part of his European tour for his latest album Ukulele Songs, released last May.

Vedder will play at Manchester's O2 Apollo on July 28, followed by London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo on July 30.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday (March 23) at 9am.

Ukulele Songs featured original and cover versions performed on the ukulele, including a collaboration with Cat Power.

Pearl Jam will headline this year's Isle of Wight Festival on June 23 alongside Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty.

Vedder recently signed up to appear in comedy series Portlandia along with Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.
