An estimated 15,000 fans turned up to catch a glimpse of the group, who made their way to the stage via a customised One Direction double-decker bus.
They made the appearance on the US breakfast programme to support the release of their debut album Up All Night.
The record has since risen to number one on the US iTunes chart during its first day on sale. Both the standard and deluxe editions currently hold the number one and two positions.
One Direction were reportedly told off by record label bosses earlier this week after trashing a bowling alley during a post-concert party in New York.
