The Sun quotes Keith Richards as saying: "Basically, we're just not ready. I have a feeling that [2013] is more realistic."

Richards also confirmed that the band are recording a new album together, their first since 2005's A Bigger Bang.

It has been suggested that the tour delay is due to Richards's ill health, while Mick Jagger previously insisted that another tour from the group was "unlikely".

It was recently reported that The Rolling Stones were in talks to play the opening and closing ceremonies of this year's Olympics.
