Engelbert Humperdinck to perform first at Eurovision 2012

Engelbert Humperdinck will provide the opening performance for this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The UK entrant has been confirmed as the first performer of the evening in Azerbaijan with his competing song 'Love Will Set You Free'.

The draw to determine the big five countries and the hosting nation's entrant's position in the lineup took place earlier today (March 20).

While the UK drew 1st place, France will be on 9th, Italy on 10th, Azerbaijan on 13th, Spain on 19th and Germany on 20th.

Humperdinck will be joined on stage by guitarist James Bryan, while Arlene Phillips will be staging the performance.

The Eurovision Song Contest grand final will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 26 and will air on BBC One and BBC One HD.
