The singer, whose independently-released track 'Forever Yours' became a surprise hit last year, admitted that he hopes to build on his success with new single 'Lady Godiva' this week.
Discussing his debut track, he told Digital Spy: "I had no idea what was going to happen. There's always that screen between me and my audience. A song can get loads of YouTube hits, but you never know how it's going to do in the charts.
"I feel the same about 'Lady Godiva'. It's that nervousness that people won't buy it and it was just a one-off hit. I've done everything I can now and I just have to wait and see how the audience reacts."
Asked whether he is hoping for long-term success, he admitted: "I'm fortunate enough that I can just about live off making music at the moment but I want to strive for more.
"Getting into the charts is a good way of getting more recognition for what I do. Continued success would mean a lot to me."
Day's new single 'Lady Godiva' - a cover of Peter and Gordon's 1966 track - is available to download now.
