Pete Doherty has revealed that he has written 12 new songs for a solo album.

The singer, who is under contract to produce another studio record for EMI, has worked with producer Adem Hilmi to put together a new collection of songs.

Doherty told NME: "I keep getting told that we're (his solo team) under obligation to fulfil the contract with EMI, so we're looking to put a new album together.

"His name (the producer) is Adem Hilmi and he works at Slaughterhouse Studios in Harlsden. He's taken my hard drive with a view to putting this album together. It'll be 12 songs."

Babyshambles recently announced plans to tour without Doherty later this year so he can concentrate on his own solo projects.
