Tupac appeared in virtual form during Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg's headlining performance at the Coachella festival at the weekend.
Sources close to Dr Dre say that he is looking to perform more tracks alongside the hologram version of the late rapper, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre are said to be planning a number of options for a possible tour, which could either be a full stadium jaunt including the likes of Eminem and 50 Cent, or a smaller limited tour featuring just the duo and the virtual Tupac.
The hologram's creator Ed Ulbrich of Digital Domain revealed that it was the "most complicated thing that can be done".
He said: "This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion. This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this."
Tupac Shakur's mother Afeni Shakur has said that she approved of the hologram performance at the festival.
