Kinks founder Ray Davies has been given an Icon award by US performing rights organisation Broadcast Music Inc.
The 62-year-old was at a recent ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel where he picked up the award, which is given to artists who have had an "unique and indelible influence on generations of music-makers," according to BBC News Online.
Davies told listeners: "It's always great to be able to accept things like this for the guys in the band as well. They were great. They were my muse."
