Rumer: 'Fame drove me to the edge of insanity'

By
Singer-songwriter Rumer
Rumer has admitted that that fame has driven her to "the edge of sanity".

The singer admitted that she had several breakdowns after the success of her million-selling debut Seasons of my Soul, which once resulted in a serious "incident" in a dressing room.

She told Q Magazine: "I tell you what, I went insane. I'm on the edge of sanity now, talking to you.

"[I was] suddenly facing huge crowds on live TV. I was terrified. Especially when I couldn't remember the words to my own songs in front of thousands of people... I was seriously unwell!"

Rumer continued: "Once I turned my wardrobe into firewood. And there was an incident in a dressing room. The only thing left un-smashed was a bottle of Absolut Vodka. But I did clean up afterwards!"

The star confessed that her new album Boys Don't Cry has helped her, adding: "The music is dark, a lot of it. But now when I listen to Boys Don't Cry I think it's beautiful, I thank God I'm still alive."
