U2 switch labels within Universal
U2 have switched record labels, moving from Island Records to Mercury Records.

The Irish band have confirmed rumours that they have relocated, but both labels come under the Universal umbrella.

Original reports hinted that the group were angered by their treatment at Island Records, with whom they have been for 26 years. A spokesman for Universal has rubbished the rumours though, commenting: "We foster strong relationships at Universal Music. We have the best artists and the best executives and we're proud of how closely they work together."
