Labrinth has denied criticising The X Factor in a recent interview.
The singer hit back at claims in Metro that he described the ITV singing competition as "absolute s**t" and that anyone who signed up to the programme is an "idiot".
He tweeted: "I've gotta give it to the metro paper for there amazing ability to reconstruct words in controversial bulls**t...(sic)
"Come on now why would I s**t on my own family. Lesson learned. It was a joke ha ha."
He later added: "Come on man I got my break a different way but The X Factor gives people a chance and U gotta respect that still."
Labrinth recently told Digital Spy that the next single from his debut album Electronic Earth will be 'Express Yourself'.
