The singer opened up about why he loves music for the Music Matters campaign, which highlights the skills of singers and producers to help consumers make the ethical choice about downloading online.
He said: "Music has always mattered to me from a very early age. My nan used to play Jason Donovan records, which I didn't really get into.
"My first ever purchase was 'Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' on seven inch."

He continued: "There's a song for every mood. If you're angry there's something to listen to, if you're sad there's something to listen to. If you wake up and you're hungover on a Sunday morning... I don't know where I'd be without music.
"I find the process really relaxing and enjoyable - irrespective of what I'm writing about. It helped me work out what was going on inside my head."
The star recently debuted the music video for his new single 'Remedy'.
