Tom Jones: 'I'd rather die on stage than retire'

By
Sir Tom Jones has claimed that he would rather drop dead during one of his concerts than retire.

The singer insisted that he never wants to be in a position where he is forced to end his music career and is determined to go on until the end.

"I hope my life comes to a natural full stop so maybe it'd be easiest if I fell down dead on stage," Jones told the Daily Star.

"I hate the thought of not being able to sing - I've no idea how I'd fill my time. It'd be terrible if I had to sit around listening to other people's records, thinking, 'I can't do that any more'."

He added: "It could happen that I'll just get too tired to tour any more and it'll be time for a long sit-down. But having it forced on me, sat at home with regrets? F**k that."

The legendary performer currently serves as a coach on BBC One's The Voice UK.

Jones will release his new studio album Spirit In The Room in the UK on May 21.
