The British boyband were filming a new video for their upcoming track 'Chasing The Sun' when an electrical transformer blew out.
The blackout hit a neighbouring street, which angered several nearby residents.
"The lads went from door to door saying sorry to most of those whose nights had been ruined," a source told The Sun.
"It was funny in a way but a load of the neighbours were ready to punch them – it was just the lads' manners that saved the day."
'Chasing The Sun' will be the lead track for the upcoming animation Ice Age 4, and will be released on Sunday, May 20.
The band recently stated that they haven't fully cracked the US yet, after scoring a massive hit with 'Glad You Came', and have possible collaborations with Justin Bieber and Chris Brown in the works.
