'Cupid' will serve as the lead single from his forthcoming album Turn on the Lights. Both are released on July 16.
The track marks Powter's first material since 2008's Under The Radar, which peaked at number 43 in the UK and didn't chart in the US.
The record failed to match the success of his eponymous LP after the singer suffered from drink and drug addiction, forcing him to temporarily step out of the spotlight.
Powter first came to prominence in 2006 when his Grammy nominated international hit 'Bad Day' became the most played track of the year on the US Billboard Hot 100 tracks of the year.
The song topped the charts in the US and Ireland and became a top 10 hit across the world including the UK, Australia, France, Italy and Sweden.
