Scarlett Johansson is recording an album of Tom Waits covers, according to a report.

The established actress is currently working on what would be her first album, Fox News has reported.

It is apparently composed of covers of the reclusive legendary singer-songwriter and is provisionally titled Scarlett Sings Tom Waits.

A Fox columnist suggested work so far had impressed. He wrote: "My spies say that Scarlett has a lovely, whispery delivery that carries a tune nicely and is suited to Waits' unusual lyrics."

Johansson is reported to be looking at a release date next spring.
