Country Music Association Awards air date announced

The 41st annual Country Music Association Awards are to air on November 1, it has been revealed.

ABC has announced that this year's ceremony will honour the best in country music from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

The CMA Awards will be shifting to a Thursday airing following several years of being broadcast on Wednesdays.

Taylor Swift was named the Country Music Association's 'Artist of the Year' at the 2011 ceremony, with husband-and-wife stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert taking the male and female 'Vocalist of the Year' honours.

Lionel Richie also debuted several tracks from his chart-topping Tuskegee album at last year's show in a performance with Rascal Flatts and Little Big Town.

This year's Country Music Association Awards air Thursday, November 1 on ABC.
