Oasis to collect 'contribution' Brit

Oasis are to receive an Outstanding Contribution to Music award at next year's Brits.
Noel and Liam Gallagher will pick up the honour at the February ceremony, following in the footsteps of luminaries including The Beatles, Paul Weller and The Who.
Peter Jamieson, chairman of organiser the British Phonographic Industry, said the Mancunians deserved recognition for their enduring influence.
"Oasis set the standard for many of the young rock bands who are currently enjoying success in the UK charts," he commented. "As the Brit awards go live for the first time in nearly two decades, it is appropriate that we should honour one of the most exciting live acts the UK has produced."
Oasis' past Brits include Best British Breakthrough Act in 1995, Best British Album for (What's The Story) Morning Glory and Best British Group and Best British Video in 1996.
The Earls Court ceremony will broadcast live on ITV.
