You Me At Six 'hoping for number one album'

By
You Me At Six have admitted that they hope to reach number one with their next record.

Max Helyer revealed that he is currently writing new material with the band, but is unsure whether it will be included on the follow-up to their 2011 album Sinners Never Sleep.

Asked if they feel pressure with their next record, Helyer told SugarScape: "It definitely applies some pressure right now for sure, 'cause you've gotta follow up.

"But I think we've all got it into our minds that we want to achieve more, and hopefully we can try and achieve a number one album.

"Maybe try and get a top-ten single - you never know. In the sense of what we come out with, we've got a lot of places we can go with our music right now, we've kind of left it open to be a bit of a surprise."

Helyer added: "We're still enjoying the ride of Sinners Never Sleep you know, I think we kind of want to finish a cycle, and we want to take a bit more time on writing the next one.

"We've been doing this for like seven years now, so we've never really had a chance to sit down and properly look at what we're actually writing - but I'm always writing! If it's gonna go on the next record or not... we'll find out."

You Me At Six walked away with the 'Best British Band' prize at last night's (June 7) Kerrang! Awards.
