They opened their set with 'Spoonman', before performing several tracks throughout their career, including 'Fell on Black Days' and 'Black Hole Sun'.

"Thanks for having us, Download," said frontman Chris Cornell. "It's our first show in the UK for 15 years."

Cornell also paid tribute to Sunday's headliners Black Sabbath, saying that he bought their classic Paranoid when he was 12 years old.

Earlier today, the band told Digital Spy that their Avengers track 'Live to Rise' is the "darkest" thing to ever be associated with Disney.

Soundgarden's setlist was as follows:

'Spoonman'
'Let Me Drown'
'Gun'
'Outshined'
'Jesus Christ Pose'
'Drawing Flies'
'Hunted Down'
'Ugly Truth'
'Fell on Black Days'
'My Wave'
'The Day I Tried to Live'
'Rusty Cage'
'Black Hole Sun'
'Beyond the Wheel'
