Cheryl Cole leads midweek chart with fastest-selling single of 2012

Cheryl Cole is on course to claim the fastest-selling single of 2012.

The star's latest song 'Call My Name' has sold 97,000 copies since its release on Sunday, launching it to the top of the midweek chart update.

Flo Rida's 'Whistle' remains at two, while Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band slip down to three with Jubilee single 'Sing'.

Rudimental stays put at four with 'Feel The Love', Coldplay and Rihanna are up to five with 'Princess Of China' and a cover version of Maroon 5's new single 'Payphone', by Precision Tunes, is at 14.

Justin Bieber's promotional single 'As Long As You Love Me' lands at 24, while The Voice UK star Tyler James is at 30 with 'Higher Love' following the release of the talent show's compilation album.

Over on the album chart, 1,400 copies separate the top three records. Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band retain their lead with Sing, while Usher follows at two with Looking 4 Myself.

Amy McDonald's Life In A Beautiful Light enters at three and is trailed by Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto at four and Ed Sheeran's + at five.

Maximo Park are new at six with National Health, Hot Chip are at nine with In Our Heads and Bobby Womack is at 25 with The Bravest Man In The Universe.
