Sex Pistols have announced plans to re-release their iconic single 'Pretty Vacant'.

The track will be unveiled in order to mark the 35th anniversary of its original release in 1977.

It will be available as a limited edition 7" picture disc from Monday (July 2).

Frontman John Lydon said of the release: "This is the Pretty Vac√ľnt press release. Thank you."

Only 3,500 pressings will be made of the single, while an expanded edition of their classic album Never Mind the B*llocks, Here's the Sex Pistols will be released in September.

'Pretty Vacant' was the band's third single after 'Anarchy in the UK' and 'God Save the Queen', and reached number six back in 1977.

It was also re-issued in 1992 and 2007, with a live version breaking the top 20 in 1996.

John Lydon recently stated that he plans never to write new songs with his surviving Sex Pistols bandmates again.
