"Aspiring to pop success is not a bad thing," Levine told the Daily Star.

"Some bands seem to be shy about going for it. For a time, it became uncool to try.

"When we were making Overexposed, we were embracing who we are - a band that plays pop."

Levine, who has also expressed an interest in appearing on Glee, added that Maroon 5 will be playing UK shows "soon".

The band are currently just behind Linkin Park in the battle for this week's number one album in the UK.
