The singer split from Russell Brand in December last year, but has no plans to dedicate her next record to the failed relationship in the style of Adele's 21.
"I'd never devote a whole record to heartbreak. I'm happy, I'm in a good place, I'm looking forward to my future," Perry told The Sun.
She added that she believes her marriage failed because she barely saw Brand while on her 'California Dreams' world tour.
"If I could edit it any other way I would, but that is exactly the way it was. I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record. Touring is always important to me. It's like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist," she said.
"Then last year, in my relationship, it's like I didn't want to change. I wanted to stay as a performer who has so much love for my fans, and I don't want to ever think I would have to choose between them."
