Nelly Furtado releases new single 'Spirit Indestructible' - listen

By
Nelly Furtado has unveiled the studio version of new single 'Spirit Indestructible'.

The singer, who debuted the track at a show in Sweden last month, released a lyric video featuring footage of friend Spencer West climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Furtado described West as a "true hero" for "redefining his possible" to raise awareness and funds for clean water projects in Africa.

"I wrote this song in tribute to humanity, as I believe we are all capable of triumphing over whatever obstacle life brings. The spirit indestructible is in all of us. People like Spencer have proven this to me," Furtado said.

West added: "'Spirit Indestructible' is amazing and has such a powerful message. I am extremely humbled to be featured along side of such a inspirational song. The clips that were chosen for the lyrics are awesome and although it's only been a few weeks, seeing them brought back so many memories from our climb!"

'Spirit Indestructible' is the follow-up to 'Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)', which peaked at number 14 on the UK singles chart. It is taken from the album of the same name, which is due out September 17 and a day later in the US.
