The Rolling Stones and Madonna were the big winners at this year's Billboard Awards, which took place last night.

The awards are based on box-office figures reported to Billboard Score.

The ceremony, which took place at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, saw the Stones take home awards for top tour based on gross dollars and for top ticket sales.

Madonna won an award for her $22 million eight-night sell out stint at London's Wembley Arena.

Elsewhere, Elton John was presented with the Legend of Live Award and U2's The Edge was honoured for his humanitarian work.
