Lawson performed the track at London nightclub G-A-Y on Saturday night (July 21). However, bassist Ryan Fletcher had to leave the set after feeling ill.
"In other news, only myself and Amy Winehouse have ever been sick on stage at G.A.Y. Sorry I couldn't finish the show I was very ill," Fletcher tweeted.
'Taking Over Me' is Lawson's second single and the follow-up to 'When She Was Mine', which reached number four in the UK back in June.
The track will be available to download in the UK from August 5.
