Snow Patrol have been granted special permission to play past Hyde Park's noise curfew.

The band will headline a concert in the capital on Friday (July 27) as part of a BT London Live gig that will coincide with the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

The Gary Lightbody-fronted act have been given consent by Westminster Council to play an 80-minute set that will begin at 11.10pm on July 27 and finish at 12.30am on July 28, reports The Sun.

The curfew has been extended two hours past the strict 10.30pm deadline that is usually in place.

Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney were cut off at Hard Rock Calling earlier this month after playing until 10.40pm.

BT London Live will also feature sets from Duran Duran, Stereophonics and Paolo Nutini.
