The Voice UK star sang his version of the Kate Bush track for SB.TV.
He later performed in front of the likes of David Cameron and Kate Middleton at the UK's Creative Industries Reception, supported by the Foundation Forum, at the Royal Academy of Arts.
"Great night last night. Big thanks to @jamaledwards and @grimmers for supporting my first rendition of "single tear" Off to photo shoot now," James tweeted this morning.
'This Woman's Work' originally featured on the soundtrack to She's Having a Baby and was released as the second single from Bush's album The Sensual World in 1989, reaching number 25 on the UK singles chart. It was later covered by Maxwell.
Speaking of his upcoming record, James told Digital Spy: "The album will probably be out in about three months. You can expect soulful songs about my life - that's the only way I can describe it.
"[will.i.am is] going to be doing some stuff on my album and I'm going to do some stuff on his. He's wicked. He's really got my back. He wasn't in it just for The Voice, he's in it for the long haul."
