Trimble, who sang 'Caliban's Dream' as a procession of young athletes carried the torch around the stadium, explained that the response to his performance has been "overwhelming".
On whether the event had sunk in yet, he admitted: "Not at all. I don't know if or when it ever will. It's too huge to process and contemplate.
"The feedback has been overwhelming. There are a lot of people who have discovered me and through that the band who would have never discovered us before."
He added: "I've had so many nice messages from people across the globe, it's been amazing."
Asked if ceremony director Danny Boyle ever appeared stressed, he insisted: "He just knew exactly what he wanted. He knew what he was doing. I didn't see him stress out at one point."
