Black Eyed Peas win three music awards

The Black Eyed Peas won in three categories at the 2006 American Music Awards in Los Angeles.
They won Favourite Group in both the rap/hip-hop and soul/rhythm and blues categories, as well as scooping the prize for Best Album for Monkey Business.
Via satellite link from Costa Rica, frontman Will.I.Am. thanked fans and artists for "keeping hip-hop progressive and pushing it forward".
Other big winners included the Red Hot Chili Peppers who won awards in the Favourite Alternative Artist and Best Pop/Rock categories and Oscar-winning Jamie Foxx who won the award for Favourite Male in the soul/rythmn and blues category.
In his acceptance speech, Foxx said "I'm like a rookie in this music thing. This means a lot more than you think."
