The electronic artist stated that he won't stop completely, but will rather slow down from his usual workload.
"I'm basically pretty miserable right now," the Canadian wrote on his Tumblr page. "I need to pull the f**k back and figure out whatever the f**k it is I do."
He explained that he will not cancel any scheduled shows, and will also continue to work on new material.
"I'm just gonna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time," he said.
"Heads up for something crazy real soon. Best I just chill the f**k out a bit and just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until I'm 100% satisfied with it."
He added: "Then our regularly scheduled programme shall continue."
Deadmau5 is scheduled to perform at London's Roundhouse on September 9 as part of this year's iTunes Festival.
He recently stated that he "sold out" by producing a dubstep-inspired record.
