The musician tweeted that the band could have reunited for the event, but said that they "couldn't do it".

"That was a closing party. Olympics. Libertines got asked, couldn't do it," he wrote.
After receiving a negative reaction from fans for rejecting the chance to reunite, he added: "All this vexation for me? Cheers. No-one actually understanding why we couldn't do it."
The Who, Spice Girls, Take That and George Michael were among the performers at last night's London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.
Carl Barat recently said that he would be interested in a Libertines reunion in the near future.
Pete Doherty has also confirmed that the pair have joined up to write new material.
