The singer was named on a number of 'future stars' lists at the start of the year and has recently broken through to the mainstream chart with his latest single 'Wonderful'.
Asked if being included on the lists added pressure, Angel told Digital Spy: "Yeah definitely, it always does.
"Everyone's not only talking about you, they are watching. Whether they like you or not they are waiting. So in terms of pressure, yeah, I knew I had to deliver."
The artist - real name Sirach Charles - is a multi-instrumentalist who has previously composed for the likes of Cheryl Cole and JLS.
Angel admitted that because of his ability to be a producer as well as a performer, work on his new album has been an independent project.
"It's been very in-house. I write, I play and I produce," he said. "Sometimes I have to tour so I'm out and about, but I have a right-hand man to keep up the progression!"
