The singer confessed that she is pleased to have moved on from the sound of her last single 'Disaster', which eventually saw the star scrap her long-delayed album Jumping Trains.
Speaking behind the scenes on her new music video, she told That Grape Juice: "I felt like it was right moving with this... it's a different sound.
"'Disaster' and 'Demonstrate' don't fit on the same album. I really feel very strongly and it feels right for the first time.
"I wanted to be able to usher in a new atmosphere for this project and give fresh energy without any of the bullsh**t from the past."
Discussing the concept of the clip, she explained: "The concept of the video is really playing upon the line 'I live in this fantasy where everything is amplified'. We incorporated some my favourite things. My favourite flower, the smoking apple. You'll get it when you see it!"
Asked when her new, as-yet-untitled album will be released, she said: "I don't want to give a date because I've been doing it for so long. When it's ready I want to be able to come out and specifically say this is it. When it's right, it will be out."
