Little Mix have described their debut album as "dark and spooky".

The X Factor winners - Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall - contributed to the writing of some tracks on the LP.

''We wrote most of the songs ourselves and there are a few surprises. A couple of the tracks are dark and spooky," Nelson told Look magazine. "I want us to be the next Spice Girls, I hope we can do for girls what they did for us."

Meanwhile, Edwards told the BBC: "More than anything, we wanted to be involved in the writing and the production. I've always loved rock music. My dad brought me up listening to Journey, Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses.

"Then, on my mum's side of the family, I was into Motown. So when we started writing, we all had different tastes in different genres of music but we tried to blend it all together."

Pinnock added that Little Mix have "so much to write about", revealing that Simon Cowell called debut single 'Wings' "genius".
