Kasabian have described their upcoming headline slot at Reading and Leeds Festivals as an "honour".

The band top the main stage bill in Reading on Saturday (August 25) and Leeds on Sunday (August 26) and insist their headline slot hasn't come too early in their career.

"We've come a long way in the last year and experienced some amazing things, but the biggest honour will be headlining Reading and Leeds," guitarist Serge Pizzorno told the Daily Star.

"We were first on years ago and we felt like we earned our stripes. I don't think this headline slot has come too early because we've got four records under our belts now and we appreciate what it means to be up there.

"And we want to make sure people have an incredible evening. We are so excited to play that show."

Kasabian will play a collection of their most popular hits along with tracks from their 2011 album Velociraptor!

The Cure and Foo Fighters will headline the remaining two nights of Reading and Leeds Festivals 2012.
